SIFI – RSS AND CHMSU CONDUCT PROJECT PEACE SYMPOSIUM WORKSHOP

The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. – Responsible Sourcing from Small Landholders (SIFI-RSS) Program together with Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) Research and Extension conducted the Project PEACE Research and Extension Symposium Workshop for members of ARB Organizations assisted by SIFI at Function Hall, Green Building CHMSU Talisay Campus.

Project PEACE stands for Partnership for Empowerment, Advancement, and Continuing Education of Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations. Rhoderick K. Samonte, CHMSU’s Director for External Affairs, presented the results of the survey about the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) on sugarcane farms conducted by CHMSU researchers together with SIFI-RSS’ junior agriculturist.

Representatives from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), LandBank, Kaisahan (Tungo sa Kaunlaran ng Kanayunan at Repormang Pansakahan), The Christian Advocates for Justice and Development- Negros, Inc. (CAJDEN), and Southeast Asia Regional Initiative for Community Empowerment (SEARICE) also joined the event to give the participants additional knowledge and information related to their life as agrarian reform beneficiaries.

Ten early-bird participants received a surprise incentive package from Project PEACE by the end of the program.
