The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) and First Farmers Holding Corporation (FFHC) collaborated with TESDA Regional Training Center in conducting a skills assessment program for their employees/operators last October 4 and 5, 2022.

With the assistance of SIFI, TESDA spearheaded the training to enhance employees’ professional development, skills, and knowledge to improve operations. The participants for the skills assessment program were employees/operators who have been serving FFHC for decades. They were screened by the FFHC based on qualifications, agreed guidelines and other requirements applicable.

All 19 employees passed and qualified for their respective National Certification exams:

Heavy Equipment Operation NCII (Wheel Loader) – 7 passers
Heavy Equipment Operation NCII (Truck-Mountain Crane) – 2 passers
Driving NCIII (Passenger Bus/Straight Truck) – 10 passers

Included in the training were practicing road health and safety practices, observing traffic rules and regulations, and performing in basic preventive maintenance servicing of equipment.  With this, FFHC meets the standard of being a HACCP certified company by complying with the Department of Labor and Employment’s safety standards.

The assessment was conducted for 2 sessions at the First Farmers Holding Corporation, Brgy. Dos Hermanas, Talisay City. The training promoted the empowerment of FFHC’s employees through continuous skills enhancement and foundation needed in their respective positions.
