SIFI DISTRIBUTES PEANUT PROCESSING KITS TO ARBOS IN NEGROS

The Livelihood Pillar of the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) aims to provide socio-economic means of support to agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs).

Headed by its Project Officer Cristina May Poblador, a memorandum of agreement was signed during the turnover of peanut processing kits with the four (4) SIFI Livelihood-assisted, peanut production-focused ARBOs namely: Jerusalem Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Association (JARBA) in Cadiz City, Estela Agrarian Reform Cooperative (EARC) in La Carlota City, Villa Carolina Integrated Organic Farmers Association (VCIOFA) in Murcia, and Viscaya Agrarian Reform Cooperative (VARC) in Pontevedra.

The abovementioned ARBOs recently attended the Peanut Value-adding Processing Skills Training at the SIMAG Training Center in E.B. Magalona. They were exposed to the different procedures of processing peanuts into consumable products such as peanut butter, salted peanuts, and sugar-coated peanuts.

With this, the peanut processing kits (composed of 2 stainless mixing bowls, strainer, colander, wok, a wooden turner, weighing scale, measuring cup set, pot with lid, knife, cutting board, metal turner, and 2 food grade pails with lid) were distributed to the ARBOs to aid their peanut enterprise.
