A week-long series of events were held by the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. project officers for the Educational Aid Program (EDAP) partners and scholars in Panay.
Education Project Officer Angelica Hebionada and Skills Training & Health Officer Milen Joy Abad led the various activities for the EDAP Coordinators and Scholars in Panay.
An EDAP Orientation and Coordinators’ Meeting was held individually between the Capiz Mill District and Iloilo Mill District. A total of 21 scholars and 5 EDAP Coordinators attended from Capiz Mill District at CISPAI Office, President Roxas, Capiz. The following are represented during the meeting:

The same orientation and meeting was held for the Iloilo Mill District at Nine Suite Business Hotel, Passi City, Iloilo. A total of 45 scholars and 14 EDAP coordinators joined the activity. Representatives from the following partners were present:

On August 1-3, 2024, a total of 30 scholars gathered at Pintados Resort, Passi City, Iloilo for the three-day Leadership Training and Values Formation Seminar with Ms. Irene Olipendo as the resource speaker.
Olipendo was also a SIFI scholar under Jalasig Sugarcane Planters Association, Inc. who graduated with Latin honors in 2017.
The Leadership Training and Values Formation Seminar started with a workshop on self-discovery in leadership for the scholars, where they immersed with the quote that says “If you want to go faster, walk alone. But if you want to go farther, walk together.”
The scholars were also introduced to online safety practices and wearing of appropriate attires.
On their last night in the seminar, the scholars organized and facilitated the Fellowship Night, with Ms. Hannah Beatx Aritalla as the guest speaker. The scholars showcased their talents in singing, dancing, and hosting. According to the scholars, the Fellowship Night strengthened their bond and camaraderie as SIFI Scholars in Panay.
The last day of the training was allotted for the teambuilding activities that emphasized the scholars’ active participation and appreciation towards each other. The scholars mark this culmination as an addition to their “core memory”.
The scholars expressed their gratitude to SIFI for conducting the leadership training in their area. The scholars also conveyed their enthusiasm as they look forward to more activities in Panay in the future.
