LUZONFED SENDS COOP MEMBERS TO COOKERY NCII TRAINING

A total of 20 cooperative members under LUZONFED were sent to train as national certified cookery graduates.

In Nasugbu, Batangas, 20 individuals benefitted from the 3-phase program of Cookery NCII (National Certification Level 2) organized by the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI), in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The training was conducted in Lin Hui Kho Technical & Vocational Training Center, Inc.

Members and representatives from partner cooperatives of Kamahari Agri-cased Multi-purpose Cooperative, Saprocom Multi-purpose Cooperative, and free planters under LUZONFED, were selected and screened for this technical skills training.

SIFI desires to aid the children and relatives of the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBO) members in acquiring NCII from TESDA with the intent to boost their skills in applying for jobs or in starting their own businesses in the food industry.

The beneficiaries underwent 3 phases of the Cookery NCII Program – lecture, practicum, and on-the-job training. The lecture was held for a week, including weekends. The practicum was conducted for 2 weeks, while the on-the-job training was done in 3 weeks.

With this success of the skills training, SIFI hopes to provide more technical assistance and community alleviation to the dependents of sugar farm workers.
