SUGARCANE FARM TECHNICIAN SCHOLARS COMPLETE 7-WEEK TRAINING

In partnership with the University of St. La Salle (USLS), the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) successfully concludes the 7-week Sugarcane Farm Technician Course Batch 9 with 14 scholar graduates.

With the aim to empower and reinforce the frontliners of the sugar industry, the 14 scholar trainees from various mill districts and planters associations accomplished the 7-week in-house training at USLS Eco-Park in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City. The training was made possible by the program supervision of Dr. Edmundo Raul Causing.

The graduation rites for the SFTC scholars was held at Balay Kalinungan, USLS Bacolod. Mr. Joseph Conrad Ledesma, SIFI Treasurer, welcomed the guests and attendees with his message. He emphasized that as a farmer himself, the traditions and origins of the sugarcane field practices should not be forgotten despite adapting to new technical procedures in the sugarcane field. He encouraged the SFTC graduates to give back to the community by sharing the lessons they learned and applying the knowledge they acquired during the training.

Mark Noe Formacion, one of the class valedictorians, said in Hiligaynon that even in just a short period of time, they learned a lot of things that would help them not only in their field of work but also in their individual lives.

On the other hand, Geramie Domingo shared that the graduation from the program is their stepping stone in their journey to success. He thanks the people involved in the program, especially their sponsors and instructors who helped them throughout the training. He also shared his gratitude towards SIFI, headed by President & COO Edith Y. Villanueva, and USLS represented by Dr. Causing.
