For the first time since the pandemic, the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) regional offices reunited for their Annual Budget Planning & Project Assessment.
SIFI staff from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao flew in to Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown, Cebu on November 27-29, 2024.
SIFI President & COO Edith Y. Villanueva expressed her delight in seeing all the project officers and staff in one room after a long time. She reminded the team that despite the age differences, the team should learn how to be flexible and adaptive to the adversities that they will face in the coming year.
Throughout the 3-day assessment, the project officers were able to learn from each other’s best practices in the field. Regional situations were also taken into account – especially how John Cena, Project Officer, have mentioned that the sugar industry is slowly seeing its twilight in Luzon. The project officers also shared their optimism in continuing the thrust of SIFI as the social arm of the industry. The special projects also presented their progress and achievements in the past year, and their plans in expanding the implementations to Southern Negros.
The group gave feedback and takeaways for the conclusion of 2024 activities and the proposed 2025 engagements. A teambuilding activity was also conducted as a step to molding the members closer to one another.
SIFI continues to be imbibed by its vision – a stable and self-reliant sugar producing and milling communities.
