SIFI RECEIVES GRANT FROM NEGROS OCCIDENTAL

The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental granted the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) its financial assistance worth ₱2 Million.

As the social amelioration arm of the sugar industry, SIFI, through its Regenerative Agriculture and Climate Mitigation (RAC) Program, seeks to respond to the urgent needs of the small farmers in the adoption of sustainable precision farming practices in Negros Occidental.

Precision is critical to the study of regenerative agriculture practices. This correlates to higher yield and reduced costs in the industry.

Thus, SIFI proposed for a financial assistance grant from the Province of Negros Occidental to acquire a machine that will elevate analytical capabilities and technical assistance to the farmers, stakeholders, and partners contributing to sustainable sugarcane farming practices and soil rehabilitation.

Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson personally handed over the check to SIFI President & COO Edith Y. Villanueva during a turnover ceremony in Talisay City.
