With SIFI’s sustainable farming practices through its Regenerative Agriculture and Climate Mitigation (RAC) Program, the acquisition of the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) will not only respond to the urgent needs of the small farmers in the adoption of sustainable precision farming, but will also elevate analytical capabilities and technical assistance to the farmers, stakeholders, and partners.

This project is in partnership with the Philippine Sugar Research Institute Foundation, Inc. or PHILSURIN – a private organization that focuses on the innovative research, development, and extension support to the Philippine sugar industry. With the AAS currently lodged and installed in the premises of PHILSURIN in Silay City, the efficient, accurate, and timely soils analysis results are expected to be done for the farmers and partners in the province.

The Provincial Planning and Development Office represented by Sherlita Fuentes and Engr. Antonio Lamis, conducted an initial inspection of the AAS onsite together with SIFI representatives and PHILSURIN officials. A separate inspection and run through will be executed in the near future to ensure the functionality of the machine.
