SIFI KICKS OFF 2024 MEDICAL MISSIONS IN LUZON AND VISAYAS

The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) kicks off 2024 with a series of medical missions in Luzon and Visayas.

A total of 560 sugar workers and dependents availed of free medical consultations, dental services, and free medicines in Batangas, Camarines Sur, and Negros Occidental. These were in partnership with URC SURE-Balayan, Sugar Planters Agriculture Cooperative, and URC SURE-SONEDCO. The health program was facilitated in cooperation with the local government units of Bgry. Taludtod, Balayan in Batangas, Brgy. San Juan, Pili, Camarines Sur, and Brgy. Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, respectively.

The medical-dental missions were deemed successful due to SIFI’s pool of volunteer doctors who shared their time and expertise to the sugar workers and dependents. Partner mills and associations expressed their gratitude to SIFI for reaching distant communities to provide health services to the beneficiaries.

According to Noreen Yusay, URC SURE-SONEDCO HR Assistant, they were extremely grateful that SIFI partnered with them to cater to the health needs of Brgy. Inayawan. She said that it has been years since their last medical mission with SIFI and this prompted them to choose a far-flung area so that the sugar workers and dependents could be accommodated. SIFI aims to roll out multiple medical-dental missions around the country this 2024.
