SCHOLARS HONE THEIR LEADERSHIP SKILLS, JOIN IN FELLOWSHIP WITH SIFI BOARD AND STAFF

The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) gathered the Educational Aid Program (EDAP) Scholars at SIFI Training Center, Talisay City for a two-day Leadership Training and Values Formation with Fellowship Seminar.

The seminar took place at the PSMA Training Hall with Ms. Ana Lea Reyes as the resource speaker. A total of 35 scholars coming from Northern and Southern Negros attended the two-day training. The scholars were composed of Second and Third Year college students.

On the first day of the training, Reyes conducted a few of self-awareness exercises and small group discussions wherein scholars re-evaluated their values and skills. In the sessions, the scholars were able to identify their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the societal values that they needed to work on.

The scholars’ communication and collaboration skills were tested on the second day of the training. In this session, the scholars went through a series of teambuilding and interpersonal activities, combining the lessons from the first day to the second day.

It was significant that, after 3 years since the COVID Lockdown, the SIFI Board and Staff were able to attend the Fellowship Seminar with the SIFI Scholars on the second day. The event started with a Fellowship Lunch, where the SIFI Board, SIFI Staff, and scholars mingled with each other. A raffle draw was also done to uplift the holiday spirit, with prizes coming from several donors and sugar industry sponsors. The scholars then performed a thanksgiving number for the SIFI Board and Staff. This was then followed by a series of games that was participated by everyone.

The scholars expressed their heartfelt gratitude to SIFI and affirmed that they will do their best to make their parents and SIFI proud.
