EDAP COORDINATORS ATTEND SIFI ORIENTATION

The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) held its Educational Aid Program (EDAP) Coordinators’ Meeting last January 24, 2024 at the PANAYFED Training Hall of the SIFI Training Center, Talisay City.

The meeting was attended by 15 representatives from the following mills and planters associations:

  • Sagay Central, Inc.
  • Victorias Milling Company, Inc.
  • Negros COFA
  • URC SURE – La Carlota
  • PASON, Inc.
  • First Farmers Association
  • First Farmers Holding Corporation
  • SIMAG Foundation
  • Hawaiian-Philippine Company
  • C-Prime Corporation
  • URC SURE – SONEDCO
  • Lopez Sugar Central
  • The Sugar Planters Association (formerly VICMICO Planters Assn.)

A brief background to the SIFI history and functions was introduced to the coordinators, followed by the presentation on the main objective of the Educational Aid Program and its guidelines. In this meeting, concerns regarding priority courses, scholars’ grade requirements, deadlines, and sanctions were most importantly discussed during the meeting. Education Project Officer Angelica Hebionada explained that there are specific aspects in the EDAP that should be strictly followed to obtain optimal results.

The EDAP Coordinators of the mills and planters associations also expressed that despite the challenges in time management, they need to work through the documents thoroughly. They said that it is important to check and verify the scholars’ requirements and documents before submitting to SIFI. They added that constant communication with the scholars and SIFI will make the process easier. The EDAP Coordinators expressed their desire to have more collaborative activities with SIFI this 2024.
