Sustainable Sugarcane Farming Practices for Luzon Partners

The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) recently organized a training for “Developing a Responsible and Sustainable Sugarcane Farming Practices” for Luzon Partners at Casa Republika, CADPI Comp., Lumbangan, Nasugbu, Batangas. About 41 representatives from KAMAHARI-ABMPC, SAPROCOM, RFI, LUZONFED, AAROB, BSPCMA, CARRETONAN MPC, BISPMPC, SANGGUNIANG BARANGAY from KAPITO, LIAN and COGONAN, NASUGBU attended last June 28, 2018.

The seminar aims to share the knowledge about climate change and its corresponding laws and implementation. In addition, the participants can formulate effective practices on how to reduce climate change impacts.

The discussion also focuses on sharing the importance of Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Preparedness for awareness. Its purpose is to reduce socio-economic vulnerabilities to disaster as well as dealing with the environment and other hazards that trigger them.

Participants were given a task to present their thoughts and opinions about the current issues and its implementation. At the end of the training, they were able to maximize their preparedness on how to deal with climate change issues and other disasters that might affect the sugar industry.
