In the past months, the Luzon-Mindanao Regional Office (LMRO) of the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) conducted the EDAP Coordinators’ Meeting and Medical-Dental Missions in Bukidnon.
For SIFI’s primary Pillar on Education – 9 representatives from ABSFI, BSMCI, SPABI, SFBMPC, CSCI, and FIMUSPAI attended the Educational Aid Program (EDAP) Coordinators Meeting in Associated Bukidnon Sugarcane Farmers, Inc. (ABSFI), Quezon, Bukidnon. The meeting was meant for the updating of the EDAP Coordinators, their scholars, and their current situation in their respective organizations. The meeting, facilitated by Project Officers Emmanuel Capul and Joseph Bryan Sermonia, also helped assess the coordinators’ needs to further improve approaches in serving the SIFI Scholars in Mindanao.
Additionally, SIFI’s Health Pillar conducted 2 medical-dental missions in Valencia City, Bukidnon, in partnership with the Sugarcane Farmers of Bukidnon Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SFB-MPC). A total of 658 individuals were given free dental assistance, medical consultation, and free medicines in 2 barangays. The turnout of beneficiaries is a testimony that despite the number of times a medical-dental mission is held in a town, many sugar farmers and workers are still in need of medical and dental assistance.
