On June 12, 2019, 33 SIFI scholars from Bukidnon went through a 1-day training entitled “Student Empowerment for Highly Effective College Students” at the Central Mindanao University (CMU) Campus, Musuan, Bukidnon.
Ms. Mary Grace B. Pacatang, Guidance Coordinator under CMU’s Office of the Student Affairs, guided the scholars with interactive activities that aim to help the scholars in coping up with the fast pacing and challenging world of college life. She introduced the 8 steps to a highly effective college life namely: (1) Be Proactive; (2) Begin with the End in Mind; (3) Put First Things First; (4) Think Win-Win; (5) Seek first to understand then to be understood; (6) Synergize; (7) Sharpen the Saw; and (8) Choice.
The training also focused on effective and ineffective habits and how the scholars tend to address the latter so as to become productive individuals of today. Other activities included sessions on self-awareness, rediscovering their dreams, goal setting as well as time management skills which were all appreciated by the SIFI scholars.
