Although December is a busy time full of holiday joys and cheers, the Sugar Industry Foundation Inc.’s health pillar continues to bring medical assistance and relief to beneficiaries from sugar farming communities.
A total of 940 hygiene kits for COVID-19 prevention were distributed to beneficiaries in hacienda farms and communities in 5 distribution events in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao during the merry month of December.
The distributions benefited more than 7,500 household members from Central Azucarera de Tarlac, Davao Sugar Central Co., Inc., Cotabato Sugar Central Co. Inc., URC Sonedco, Kabankalan, and household members of 140 SIFI scholars from BISCOM, FFA, FFHC, SIMAG, VICMICO PA, PASON, and HPCO.
The Hygiene Kit for COVID Prevention consists of multi-vitamin syrup for children and tablets for adults, paracetamol, alcohol, disposable face masks, face shields, and info graphic flyers about COVID prevention tips in Hiligaynon and Filipino.
Conducted as a temporary replacement for the SIFI medical – dental missions which are currently not allowed because of restrictions set by the Philippine Task Force against COVID-19, the Sugar Industry Foundation has assisted more than 12,000 households and more than 57,000 family members since the project started when the pandemic hit in 2020.
The foundation has conducted a total of 39 distribution events in the whole country in 2021. Precautionary measures were strictly observed during the distributions to avoid the spread of the virus.
