The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) conducted an event for EDAP Coordinators from Negros Occidental last September 28, 2019. The workshop entitled “Personality Development, Mental Health and Wellness” was held at SIFI Training Center with 19 education coordinators present.
The resource speakers, Dr. Marijoy Gaduyon and Ms. Shiela Javier are Guidance Counselors from the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod. Dr. Gaduyon tackled the Personality Development Workshop during morning session while Ms. Javier handled the Mental Health and Wellness in the afternoon.
The seminar goals are to improve the participants’ understanding of personality similarities and differences, emerging personal challenges, and individual coping mechanisms present in any healthy group environment. It also enabled participants to apply these knowledge to enhance personality in adjusting to a more positive and inclusive relationship among colleagues, and be aware and mindful of the mental health issues concerning adolescents; recognize signs and symptoms of depression and identify positive ways of coping.
At the end of the session, the coordinators verbalized in their evaluation that the inputs they learned from the seminar will be of great help to them especially in dealing with the different behaviors/personalities of their scholars, their family members, their co-workers and the people around them. The information imparted made them aware that they really have a big role to play in the lives of their scholars.
