The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI) was invited by DSWD to join this NGO Leadership Training last January 16, 2019. SIFI was represented by Angelica M. Hebionada, SIFI Training Officer, Ma. Catherine C. Catatista, SIFI Communications Officer, and Imee Marie D. Beira, SIFI Administrative Assistant. The event was held at the GC & C Training Center at Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City.
The program started with messages from Unleash International and DSWD ABSNET followed by video clips on how people respond to everyday problems.
Ms. Avelynn Garcia, Executive Vice President of Unleash International Corp., was the main Resource Speaker. She shared some motivating words from Steve Jobs and asked each participant “why are we here?” She presented a video clip from the Pirates of Silicon Valley wherein Steve Jobs says “We are here to make a dent in the universe …” She said this explains the purpose of every individual and how each one can make his life more interesting and worthy enough to share the teachings of life. “Embrace the place that GOD has placed for you.”
The program entitled “Unleash your Highest Potential in Creating Positive Change” meant bringing out the best in you and giving a 100% in everything you do.
The program was started in 2003 when Avelynn and her husband were offered by a real estate owner a 1000 Sq. meter house and lot in return for conducting trainings which they considered as blessings in their lives. The seminar drew out more inspiring stories such as ‘Pay it Forward” and anecdotes from real-life heroes and heroines.
Finally, the story of the Tulong ko, Pasa mo movement was fully explained to serve as a model for the participants to emulate. Both Mr. Vic and Ms. Avelynn Garcia believe that each one of us has the ability to help and touch the heart of others by passing forward the grace of God.
