The Sugar Industry Foundation was invited by the VICMICO Planters Association to participate in their Annual General Assembly held last May 19, 2018 at the Bacolod Pavilion Hotel in Bacolod City.
About 400 participants were present, which included small planters, their multi-purpose coop members and the VICMICO staff.
Aside from the business meeting, there were exhibitors related to the sugar industry, such as John Deere which presented their new tractors and farm machineries. Philhealth was also able to announce updates and current scope of services.
SIFI was given the opportunity to explain its scholarship program, its sugarcane technician course offering and its Advantage Health plan. The SIFI staff distributed tarpaulins on how to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the sugarcane fields.
SIFI’s livelihood partner Marbekery also showcased their latest variety of breads and buns which were sold out during the event.
