To help its scholars understand the importance of choosing the right leaders of the country, SIFI conducted an online seminar on “Citizen Values Education and What Governance & Election Mean to Me” last April 2 and 23, 2022.
The webinar was led by resource speaker Dr. Marie Therese V. Jochico, EdD. A total of 87 scholars from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao participated in the seminar conducted via Google Meet.
“The criteria for choosing the right candidate will definitely help us to choose wisely, especially today that fake news is rampant. It is really essential to do your research before choosing a candidate”, Ladie Lyn Casona, SIFI LMRO scholar said. James Aguilar from LMRO also added that he is still undecided and his choice is still unclear to him as he has only watched a few debates but the topic has been a great help to him.

The webinar also focused on teaching scholars how to get accurate and truthful information about the candidates so one can decide and choose the best leader they see fit. As well as identify and choose the right candidate using the criteria presented.

As a first-time voter, it’s a good opportunity to have, as it will enlighten me in many ways by making me aware of our current condition and allowing me to realize what our country’s current needs are”, Angela Alito, SIFI VRO scholar shared.
“Right now, our country is yelling for change. It is common sense that we need to identify a leader who can help us grow. Have good criteria in choosing your ruler. Vote ideally and wisely”, Alito added.
Dr. Jochico presented and discussed the deepest issues that our country had faced and is currently facing and how choosing a leader who is reliable, accountable, and incorruptible will greatly help our country.
An anonymous mock poll was also conducted wherein scholars were given the task to choose their top 3 presidential and vice-presidential candidates using the presented criteria of a leader.
