DISASTER AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY FORUM

SIFI was fortunate to have the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) from the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental conduct a seminar-workshop on Disaster Awareness for the SIFI scholars.

It started with an action-packed morning session focused on the “Common Hazards and Family Preparedness” whenever calamities occur such as floods, fire, typhoon or earthquakes. The team which conducted the various sessions was headed by the PDMPD Head Instructor Mr. Dennis N. Bustillo together with his assistants Mr. Christopher Dorde and Mr. Joseph Cato.

The following sessions focused on “First Aid Basic Life Skills” conducted by PDMPD Instructor Mr. Robert Lorca.  Actual demonstrations were shown to the participants who were taught how to actually perform first aid, how to treat common injuries and wounds, assess patients and learn the basics of life support and emergency transfer.

It is SIFI’s goal to impart helpful information on disaster awareness so that its SIFI scholars are always prepared and ready to respond to emergencies, and hopefully to save lives, in their respective farms and communities.
