SIFI AND USLS LAUNCH FIRST EVER ALL-FEMALE SFTC BATCH

The Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. (SIFI), in partnership with the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod (USLS), welcomed the Sugarcane Farm Technician Course (SFTC) Batch 11. This is the first ever all-female batch in the history of the SFTC.

On June 25, 2026, the 11 SFTC scholars arrived at the USLS Agribusiness Farm in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City, where they will undergo 45 continuous days of in-house specialized training.

Mr. Rodel Clavite, USLS Agribusiness Farm Coordinator, orients the scholars on house rules.

This batch of female applicants will go through trainings and activities focusing on managerial skills, accounting fundamentals, payroll, law, and farming – to name a few. They will also get a glimpse of basic sugarcane production, farming skills, organic farming, basic computer, and values formation. The SFTC also offers exposure activities through educational field trips and the Sugar Regulatory Administration’s OPSI Seminar.

SIFI and USLS look forward to the development of the ladies’ potential in the future of sugarcane farming. The scholars are set to graduate from the course on August this year.
