Around 144 scholars from the Luzon and Mindanao areas actively participated in a series of orientation workshops held last July 27 in Cagayan on August 4; in Batangas on August 27; and in Bukidnon and Davao del Sur on August 29.
With freshmen students as the majority of attendees, SIFI geared its orientation program towards establishing a strong foundation to the scholars. Various interactive activities were facilitated by Ms. Eunice Cama, Program Officer for LMRO that helped the scholars gain confidence and develop camaraderie among others. It was followed by a thorough discussion on the EDAP guidelines that gave proper directions to the scholars. The project officers namely, Ulysses Dizon for North Luzon, John Cena for South Luzon, and Jig Sermonia for Mindanao helped facilitate the discussions about SIFI and its programs as well as on RA 6982 enabling the scholars to understand and appreciate the ownership of the scholarship program as a whole.
